In a cashless society, banking and tech elites control everything

CASH AND DIGITAL PAYMENTS MUST NOT BE EXCLUDING EACH OTHER, BUT MUST CO-LIVE TO AVOID THE CONCENTRATION OF POWER TOWARDS BANKING AND INSTITUTIONAL OLIGOPOLIES

"a cashless society would sound the death knell for small businesses, and wipe out any remaining privacy we have, paving the way for a fully-fledged surveillance system"

I also don't like a cashless society. But if there were a good implementation of digital currency, like gnu taler, that would pretty much take the way cash works now into the digital realm.

It's possible, but not likely to be suggested by the big monopolists and surveillance people.

I carry cash, therefore billionaires have no power over me? Come on man. Cash or credit isn't going to change the fundamentals of capitalism.
